Advanced Production Technologies H2020 SME Instrument

In the scope of the 2017-2018 (semester 2) Advanced Production Technologies curricular unit, Industrial Management Engineering students have been challenged to develop a H2020 SME Instrument Phase 1 application proposal in the scope of a product that will be fabricated making use of advanced manufacturing technologies, for example, nanotechnology, additive manufacturing, etc.

Horizon 2020 is the largest EU Research and Innovation program. The goal of the program is to ensure that Europe produces world-class science, removes barriers to innovation and makes it easier for the public and private sectors in creating innovation. Horizon 2020 provides grants in most areas of science and technology aimed for civilian use.

SME Instrument Phase 1 – Feasibility Assessment (idea to concept) proposal haves the goal of exploring and assessing the technical feasibility of a breakthrough innovative product or service based on advanced manufacturing technologies and its commercial potential. This must be reflected on a business plan with a maximum of 10 pages. The business plan should illustrate the state-of-the-art of the idea, the innovation and market potential of the project, as well as its feasibility in terms of time, resources, and competence. If successful, the grant is for 6 months, with a maximum grant of €50.000.
