Advanced Manufacturing Technology

Advanced production technologies are all the innovative forms of transforming raw materials or components in new products, whatever applying conventional processes or making use of the most recent and cutting-edge science breakthroughs. In this scope, the main objective of the Advanced Production Technologies course is to promote an entrepreneur mindset in the use of this technologies. Additionally, the course will be developed to provide the student with knowledge and interdisciplinary skills that allow them to develop their future activity in the manufacturing of goods and services industry, either in traditional or in entities applying advanced technological methodologies. At the end of the course the students are expected to have acquired general knowledge in the context of advanced manufacturing technology, particularly regarding the use of specific technical vocabulary, general knowledge of raw materials and processing technologies, in addition to design for manufacturability and design for assembly requirements, manufacturing economic costs and environmental impacts of the different production options. It is also expected that students develop their entrepreneurial capacity by taking advantage of the knowledge acquired.
